Abstract

Reactions of monopositive metal ions (Al +, Co + and Mn +) with ammonia–acetone binary clusters in the gas phase have been studied with the laser ablation-molecular beam (LAMB) method. Relative abundance of the resulting metal complex ions M +(NH 3) m (CH 3COCH 3) n (M +=Al +, Co +, Mn +) has been probed for several stagnation ratios of NH 3/CH 3COCH 3/Ar. The relative abundance for the same stagnation ratio was highly metal-specific, indicating occurrence of complete reorganization during the reactions. Structures of the metal complex ions are discussed based on the metal-specific pattern of the relative abundance.
