Abstract

Here, we report novel spherical non-transformable yttria-stabilized zirconia (T'-YSZ) nanostructured powders with solid/hollow and controllable microstructure fabricated via a nanoparticle regranulation method for additive manufacturing (AM). The as-obtained T'-YSZ feedstocks are superior to commercial YSZ powders for thermal barrier coatings when thermal spraying is used as the AM method. Furthermore, we confirm for the first time that the state-of-the-art T'-YSZ feedstocks can be successfully used for 3D printing. Therefore, the as-prepared powders are promising for AM, and they will promote the development of AM techniques.
