Abstract

In article number 2000636 by Martin D. Hager and co-workers, novel biobased intelligent ionomers are presented. Itaconic acid derivates are utilized to synthesize different ionomers capable of self-healing. The thermal and mechanic properties are investigated in detail utilizing differential scanning calorimetry, thermo gravimetric analysis, FT-Raman and FT-IR spectroscopy, and dynamic mechanical analysis. Furthermore, a detailed scratch-healing test reveals healing efficiencies up to 99% in 2 h at 90 °C.
