Abstract

The acute treatment and preventive therapy of migraine seems to have come to a halt recently. The last real innovation in the treatment of migraine attacks were the triptans, which were introduced 20 years ago. The last new drug for the prevention of episodic migraine was topiramate, which is now off-patent. Therefore, it is time to explore new avenues in the treatment of migraine. This book describes new approaches to the treatment of acute migraine attacks and to migraine prevention. Beyond new drugs and drug targets, we show advances in nonmedical treatments.
