Abstract

In this paper, a new approach to building an AC uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is presented. The scheme has just two power conversion stages; therefore, it has less power stages than the traditional UPS with power factor correction (PFC). The proposal includes the removal of the bulk capacitor at the output of the PFC converter allowing the use of a high efficiency inverter. Additional features include: low total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input current and output voltage, high efficiency and galvanic isolation between battery and the load.
