Abstract

To analyze AC copper loss of the electric vehicle (EV) motors accurately, it is calculated using the finite element method (FEM) after extracting the inverter-fed current (IFC) by space vector PWM. However, the harmonic waves of the IFC are different at each operating point, it takes a long time to analyze AC copper loss using the FEM. Thus, it is difficult to calculate AC copper loss at the entire efficiency map. To overcome the problem, this paper proposes an AC copper loss calculation method according to i <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">d</inf> , iq and operating speed by considering inverter carrier harmonics. Proposed method uses both analytical and numerical methods. The validity of the proposed method is proved by comparing of analysis time and accuracy between this method and the fully FEM.
