Abstract
Abstract A study of the nature and relation of the metamorphic and sedimentary beds in northwestern Dahomey, between the Atacora boundary and Oti valley, shows that the Buem series constitutes a folded structure intermediate between the unfolded Kande series on the east and the nearly horizontal beds of the Oti series on the west. The stratigraphic facies described from Togo do not extend to the east into Dahomey. The unconformity between the Buem and Kande series is not in evidence in the area, and the degree of metamorphism and structural relations of the two series do not provide sufficient evidence for resolving the problem of their relative ages. Two hypotheses are proposed, one which supposes the faults to be normal, and the other in which they are reverse.
