Abstract
The cycloaddition reaction of trifluoromethyl isocyanide to diphenylethyne yields 1,2 -diphenyl- 3,4-bis(trifluoromethyl imino)cyclobutene. 1,2-diphenyl- 3-oxo-4-trifluoromethyl iminocyclobutene is obtained as a by-product resulting from hydrolysis. The structure of 1,2-diphenyl-3,4-bis(trifluoromethyl imino)cyclobutene has been elucidated by X-ray crystal structure analysis.
