Abstract

Ca3[MnN3] (orthorhomb. Cmcm (Nr. 63); a = 842.6(1), b = 1024.7(2), c= 501.4(1) pm; Z=4) was prepared by reaction of mixtures of Li, Ca and Mn (molar ratio 6:1:1) in tantalum crucibles with nitrogen (1 atm) at 900°C. The crystal structure contains distorted trigonal-planar anions [MnN3]6- with C2v-symmetry (Mn—N: 179.4(4) pm and 179.9(5) pm; N—Mn—N: 114.7(1)° and 130.6(2)°). Ca3[MnN3] is an isotype of Ca3[CrN3] and Ca3[VN3].
