Abstract

At the end of 1979 the Norwegian Ministry of Environment appointed a steering committee for the work with the National Atlas of Norway. The aim of the Atlas is to provide a decision-oriented information system for public administration, social and regional planning and political and educational work. The Atlas, under production and publication by the Norwegian Mapping Authority (Statens Kartverk), is issued in a loose-leaf system. Folded maps and descriptive pamphlets are combined in folders of A4 size. The first folder issue was published in 1983 and the final one from the first edition will be published in the 1990s.
