Kurt died accidentally in the mountains whilst on a field trip in the course of his research work. We plan to produce a special memorial issue of this Journal in Kurt's honour, but in the meantime we extend our sympathy and condolences to Kurt's wife Gerlinda and his daughter Bridget. Kurt Irgolic is a co-author of a paper in the present issue.
