Abstract

The sound absorption property of a multilayered aluminum foam structure was investigated at present work. The absorption coefficients of the structure were measured by the transfer function method. Based on the equivalent fluid model, a theoretical model for the multilayered structure was presented. Compared with the experiment, the theoretical sound absorption coefficients of the multilayered structure were consistent with experimental values. The theoretical model is suitable for evaluating the sound absorption characteristics of the multilayered structure. Furthermore, the experiment and theory show the multilayered structure has an excellent absorption characteristic because of its series multi-resonance structure. And the best acoustic absorption characteristic of the multilayered Al foam structure can be obtained by adjusting the structural parameters.
