Abstract

This paper dedicated to research the influence of education investment on regional income disparity in China, and propose measures to reduce the regional income disparity. By using some basic statistics to measure the regional income disparity and regional education investment disparity in recent years, we found that regional income disparity problem do exist in China, but regional education investment disparity did not exist. By building a spatial econometric model, it made a quantitative research on the effects the regional education investment takes on the regional income disparity. Results showed that education investment inequality played important role in reducing regional income disparity. The compulsory education and high education investment greatly helped improve people's income, but the secondary education investment took a negative effect in that. It suggested that enhancing the national education department is an efficient way to reduce China's regional income disparity.
