Abstract

The electromagnetic time reversal method is not only suitable to accurately identify the location of a phase-to-ground fault in an electrical network but also is able to estimate the value of the fault impedance. In this letter, a closed-form procedure is developed to compute the fault resistance associated to a soft fault between the line and the reference conductor. Some numerical examples are given and discussed.
