Abstract

The sorbents were prepared with calcium lignosulfonate and magnesium lignosulfonate as raw materials. The influence of impregnation ratio, activation temperature and activation time on properties of adsorbents were investigated. The results showed that impregnation ratio, activation temperature and activation time had different effect on adsorption of two sorbents. With increasing impregnation ratio and activation time, the adsorption capacity of sorbent made from calcium lignosulfonate on methylene blue and iodine had very degrees of increase. As activation temperature increased, its methylene blue adsorption value was improved significantly, but its iodine adsorption capacity went down. While impregnation ratio, activation temperature and activation time were increased, there was a certain extent of improvement on iodine adsorption capacity of sorbent, which was obtained from magnesium lignosulfonate. On the contrary, its methylene blue adsorption value decreased. It could be concluded that the aperture in sorbent, which was obtained from certain process mentioned in this paper were mainly microporous.
