Abstract

An experimental investigation on the wake vortex formation and evolution of counter-rotating two vortices using a modified new generic model was carried out in a water towing tank. The model consists of a main wing and a second wing. The main wing can generate a main vortex, and the second wing can generate a smaller vortex which could produce an interaction between those two vortices and finally lead to the breakdown of the main vortex. The results were obtained by means of the time-resovled 2-D PIV system. Four sets of data were analyzed to give the vorticity, circulation and the interaction process.
