Abstract
In this study, adding coal cinder at bottom of solar pond as a means of increasing temperature of the solar pond is presented. In order to examine the effect of this method applying in large solar pond, a numerical calculation on predicting temperature evolution in large area of salt gradient solar pond is also given with 1-D model. Finally a numerical and experimental study on an experimental solar pond is presented with a 2-D simulation. The results shows that coal cinder is a better material to adding at bottom of the pond, the numerical results suggest that adding coal cinder at bottom of large area of solar pond can obviously increase LCZ temperature. The numerical results is reasonable and valuable, which indicated that the equations and the computer algorithm, also the source code is reliable and correct.
