Abstract

There was great significance to estimate the nonpoint source (NPS) pollution load with insufficient monitoring data of watershed NPS pollution in China. Land use types had great influences on NPS pollution load in watershed. Based on land use and pollutant load of the measured data, through the correlation analysis and the practical application, the Land Use Relation Approach was put forward. The fundamentals and principles were introduced in this paper firstly. According to the case study of Heihe watershed, the Total Nitrogen (TN), the Total Phosphour (TP) and the Solid Suspender (SS) load were predicted under two extreme cases of the deterioration and improve compared with the status. It showed that the Land Use Relation Approach, with simple structure and program, was feasible and practical to predict NPS pollution load of changed land use.
