Abstract

The first thing that caught my eye on entering the foyer of the Old Vic theatre was the striking poster (by F Krauze) advertising the play I was about to see – Jonathan Miller's production of King Lear. It was an arresting image: bold vertical slashes of white, represented the cliffs of Dover, and atop, on a small green sward, were the minute figures of Gloucester and Edgar.
