Abstract
Does the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) put judicial independence at risk ? While this question might have sounded excessive a few years ago, today it appears to be serious enough to have brought about new deontological obligations, an opinion held by the Consultative Council of European Judges and a number of projects working towards a code of good practice. As a matter of fact, ICT provide formidable assistance to judicial work, but they could also influence judgments and ‘dry up’ the reflections of judges for the sake of enhanced productivity.
