Research Article| September 01 2006 Notes, Queries on Marco Breuer's Notes, Queries Jeffrey DeShell; Jeffrey DeShell University of Colorado at Boulder jeffrey.deshell@colorado.edu Jeffrey DeShell is the author of three novels, S & M and In Heaven Everything is Fine (FC2), Peter: An (A)Historical Romance (Starcherone), and a critical book, The Peculiarity of Literature: An Allegorical Approach to Poe's Fiction. He has co-edited two collections of fiction by American women, Chick-Lit I: Postfeminist Fiction and Chick-Lit II: No Chick Vies (FC2), and was a Fulbright Teaching Fellow in Budapest, Hungary, 1999–2000. He is currently an assistant professor and Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His work is in numerous collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the New York Public Library; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart, Germany. His publication SMTWTFS received wide critical acclaim and a photo-eye Award for Best Photography Book of 2002. Breuer received a Guggenheim fellowship in 2006. He is represented by Von Lintel Gallery in New York City. Originally from the Boston area, Matt received his MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2003. He is represented by galleries in Chicago, Madrid, and Reus, Spain and his work is part of the permanent collections of The Art Institute of Chicago and The Museum of Contemporary Photography. Images from Matt's projects have been published worldwide in periodicals such as ArtForum, Flash Art and EXIT Magazine. Matt is also on the faculty at Columbia College Chicago teaching beginning and advanced digital imaging. He is best known for his award-winning photographic books and multi-media exhibits and video installations, among them Rich and Poor, Nursing Home, Raised by Wolves, and most recently Hospice. Jim Goldberg has received numerous awards and grants including a Guggenheim Fellowship, three National Endowment for the Arts awards, a Eureka Fellowship, The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation Fellowship, and most recently both the Hasselblad and ArtCouncil Awards. He is currently working on two new books—one, a fictional autobiography, and the other, a project on the immigrants of Greece. He is a Professor of Art at the California College of Arts and Crafts. His net art works have been exhibited all over the world including the Whitney Biennial, the ICA in London, and the Walker Arts Center. He has published two novels, The Kafka Chronicles and Sexual Blood (FC2: University of Alabama Press). Amerika is the founder and publisher of the Alt-X Online Network, a net art and new media writing site started on the Internet in 1993 (www.altx.com). His forthcoming book of artist writings, titled META/DATA: A Digital Poetics, will be published by The MIT Press in 2007.
