Abstract

Pyrulofusus harpa (Mörch, 1857) and Volutopsius castaneus (Mörch, 1857) were described from Sitka, Alaska, however no specimens of either species have been found at Sitka, nor indeed anywhere in the eastern Gulf of Alaska. It seems more likely that the types of both species came from Kodiak, where both species are frequently found. The type localities for both species are herein corrected.
