Abstract
The specimens described here were collected by the writer in the vicinity of Athens, Georgia, during the fall, winter, and spring of 1945-1946. The majority of the thirty-four species listed have not been previously reported from this state. A species of Platygloea, apparently not reported since its discovery in Europe, has been found and is redescribed here. A single new species is proposed under the generic name Seismosarca. Undoubtedly, a much larger number of tremellaceous species will be found as the survey is extended to other parts of this state, which is characterized by an interesting succession of climatic, topographical, and vegetative zones. Excellent keys to the identification of most of the Tremellales discovered in this country will be found in a recent publication by Martin (1944) and in an earlier paper by Coker (1920). Martin's paper also presents a very helpful bibliography on the taxonomy of the Tremellales of North America.
