Adams, Walter S. Abstract In addition to extensive measurements of the radial velocity of the star as determined from the lines of its reversing layer, an analysis of the complex shell lines of Mn I, Cr I, and several other elements has been attempted. Considerable evidence is presented to prove the existence of another set of the same lines of these elements which originate in the star's reversing layer and hence show variations in radial velocity. The presence of these additional lines does much to explain the results of observation, and marked changes in the character of the lines with variations in the star's radial velocity form an interest ing feature.
