Abstract

The generic synonymy of Ruprechtia is discussed, and the correct lectotype R. ramiflora (basionym: Triplaris ramiflora is established. The description of R. cruegeri is extended. Explanations to the apparent long‐range disjunctions of R. jamesonii and R. cruegeri are discussed. For R. jamesonii erroneous label data on a Glaziou collection from Brazil is suggested. Ruprechtia cruegeri might be a true disjunction between Trinidad and Amazonian Peru, or it might be an uncommon and under‐collected species with special habitat preferences.
