Notes on the flora of Attiki (Sterea Ellas, Greece)

Abstract

New chorological data are presented for 271 species and subspecies of vascular plants in the prefecture (nomos) Attikis, Greece, and recent changes in the flora and the phenology of refound species is briefly discussed. Four species are reported as new for the Greek mainland, 9 for the floristic region of Sterea Ellas (StE), 56 for the mainland of nomos Attikis, 12 for eparchia Attikis and 36 for eparchia Megaridos. Sixty‐five taxa are reported as new for Mt Parnitha, 24 taxa for Mt Pendeli, 12 for Mt Imittos, 57 for Mt Kitheronas, 42 for Mt Pateras, 34 for Mt Pastra and 11 for Mt Gerania. The taxa in nomos Attikis (16) and on individual mountains in Attiki (14) for which only historical records are known but not recently confirmed are listed. The increase in the number of taxa during the last 20 years is also confirmed based on data from grid square maps which depict the numbers pre‐2000 and as presently known.
