Abstract

AbstractThe extraction of nickeldimethylglyoxime by chloroform has been investigated as a function of pH. In pure nickel solutions extraction is complete in the pH range 4.7‐10; in tartrate solutions in the range 4.8‐12 and in citrate solutions in the range 7.2‐12. Interferences by copper and cobalt are discussed. For the photometric determination of the extracted nickel as the oxidized nickeldimethylglyoxime complex an improved procedure has been developed resulting in a colour system of great stability.
