Abstract

Anisodactylus sanctaecrucis F., a carabid commonly found in cropland in South Dakota, is transamerican in distribution and prefers moist soil. Adults are active in the field from spring thaws to late Sept. The mean developmental period takes ca. 40 days. New-generation adults overwinter before ovipositing, and females are known to produce eggs for as many as 3 yr.
