Abstract
The names Plectranthus barbatus Andrews and P comosus Sims have been applied to different species (or different forms of the same species) and are here epitypified by collections from Eritrea and Nepal respectively. A collection assigned to P barbatus sensu lato is selected as epitype for Coleus coerulescens Giirke. The material from Somalia and Yemen that has been known as Plectranthus coerulescens (Gfirke) R. H. Willemse in recent literature is described as a new species, P argentifolius Ryding. P baDiensis Ryding is described as a new species from Somalia. The monotypic genus Capitanya is included in Plectranthus, and the following new combinations are made: P cunealus (Baker. f.) Ryding, P otostegioides (Giirke) Ryding and P scebeli (Chiov.) Ryding.
