Notes on Introduced Slugs of The Families Limacidae and Milacidae In Australia, With Two New Records

Abstract

Summary Six species and one variety oC milacid and limacid slugs Introduced Into the Australian fauna are discussed. In the Milacidae these are Milax gagates (Draparnaud, 1801) and M. gagates var., and In the Limacldae Deroceras reticulatum (Mulller, 1774), Deroceras caruanae (Pollonera, 1891), Limax maximus Linnaeus, 1758, Lehmannla (Lehmannla) nyctelia (Bourgulgnat, 1861). and Lehmannla (Limacus) flava (Linnaeus. 1758). Two of these, D. caruanae and L. (L.) nyctelia are recorded from Australia for the first time. Keys for the identification of these species are provided and ecological notes given to aid in field studies.
