Abstract

The major variables known to affect divorce patterns in society are war, economic fluctuations, and legislative changes. This study suggests that at least one of theselegislative changes-also affects divorce filing patterns. Data taken from the daily newspaper in a southern metropolitan county show a complete reversal in male and female divorce filing patterns for the two years following the passage of a dissolution law in Florida. It is suggested that this change might represent major alterations in male-female roles in regard to all aspects of divorce behavior.
