Abstract

This material was studied as a preparatory step to a survey of the genus Lepiota (Pers. ex Fr.) S. F. Gray in Australia. Most of the specimens had been forwarded to Kew prior to the year I900 and the condition of the material was frequently poor. In some cases additional information in the form of a short description and/or a pencil sketch was available. The accuracy of the specific epithet attached to each group of specimens has been checked. Specimens which were incorrectly placed were identified only if the evidence was sufficiently distinctive.
