Abstract

Tomentellous woody climber. Leaves 7-12 x 3-5-5 cm varying in shape from oval in the juvenile stage to obovate at maturity with an acuminate apex and deeply cordate base; the upper surface nearly glabrous except for a scattering of small weak hairs on and near the main veins, the lower surface more pilose and reticulate; petioles 1 -5-2 cm, pubescent and often convolute; pseudostipules absent. Flowers solitary or in pairs, axillary and up to 10 cm long including the ovary, densely pubescent, bracteolate, the limb up to 4 x 2 cm with an appendage 3 cm long, flattened at the apex; annulus absent; tube up to 1-5 cm x 4 mm, straight; syrinx annular, 1 mm broad; utricle obovoid, 1 x 0-5 cm; ovary 1-3 cm x 2 mm; gynostemium 6-lobed, 0-5 cm x 2 mm; stamens 6; fruit up to 3-5 x 2-25 cm, ellipsoid; seeds not
