Abstract
During the preliminary preparation of the account of the Acanthaceae for the 'Flora of Tropical East Africa' the need arose to give recognition to various previously undescribed species and to elucidate certain misconceptions of identity. The citations in the following enumeration are selected from the material examined. All specimens are represented in the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, unless otherwise indicated. I am indebted to the Directors of several botanical institutes for their courtesy in lending type and other critical material and to Mr. H. K. Airy Shaw for assistance with the Latin descriptions.
