Abstract

Abstract Planktonic foraminifers, tentatively identified in thin section as Hedbergella infracretacea, occur in limestones considered to be interbedded with the Matakaoa Volcanic Group at Cape Runaway. Known occurrences of H. infracretacea in New Zealand and elsewhere suggest an early Clarence or Taitai age for the limestones; the Matakaoa volcanics may be mainly of early Cretaceous age.
