Abstract
In December issue of the Transactions, page 1014, the list of the members of the Committee on Tides of the Association of Oceanography is given. We have received word that A. Gougenheim (France) has replaced J. B. Schijf (The Netherlands) as Secretary, though Schijf remains on the Committee. K. Hidaka (Japan) has replaced K. Terada (Japan).A Symposium under the general title of Solar Eclipses and the Ionosphere will be held under the auspices of the Mixed Commission on the Ionosphere of the International Council of Scientific Unions in Burlington House, London, August 22–24, 1955. The topics under the Symposium are: Ionospheric and other geophysical eclipse phenomena, Recent ionospheric eclipse results, Ionospheric processes—ion production and recombination, Sources of ionizing radiation, and Radio astronomical eclipse observations. Persons desiring further information should write to Dr. W. J. G. Beynon, Secretary of the Mixed Commission on the Ionosphere, Department of Physics, University College, Swansea, England.
