Abstract

A critical evaluation of the Russian revolution implies e re-consideration of Marx's theory of historical change. In the light of the recent philological acquisitions available thanks to the new critical edition of Marx's and Engels' works. It seems possible to redefine some basic concepts of Historical materialism; this affects both the concept of Revolution and the theory of the historical and political classes supposed to lead this process. The essay begins a reflection on these complex themes and suggest some possible future researches.
