Abstract
A small number of mounted implements are known from archaeological contexts in South Africa and an attempt is being made to X-ray all specimens for information on the mode of hafting. This note reports on the two artefacts (A I543 and C 96I) in the Albany Museum, while a further report on examples in the South African Museum is being prepared by Mr. R. R. Inskeep. The general characters of both mounted implements in the Albany Museum have been published by Hewitt (I9I2; I92I) and by Clark (I958; I959) so that the new features shown by the X-ray photographs are of greater interest here.
