Abstract

0. Introduction. In [2] the maximal ideal space of the tensor product of two commutative Banach algebras was studied. One of the results was: Let A3=A 10 A2 be the greatest cross-norm [3; 4 ] tensor product of two commutative Banach algebras A, and A2. Let 91, 92Q, 93 be the corresponding spaces of regular maximal ideals. Then 93 and 92QlX 922 are naturally homeomorphic if the weak* topologies are used in all spaces. In the following, we extend the discussion to the case in which no commutativity is assumed.2
