Abstract

The specific heat of microcrystallites is computed according to a method used by Kothari and Singal. Their work is extended to a full range of microcrystallite size, and a bulk specific heat prediction allows comparison with experimental excess specific heat due to small particle size. Agreement is surprisingly good and offers a possibility for a practical and reasonably accurate approach to calculations of small particle specific heat.
