Abstract

Abstract The electrochemical oxidation of Ni(II) complexes of a series of substituted N,N'-ethylenebis(mono-R-acetonimines), where R = OOCH3, OCH3, O, CH3, OCl and OBr, was investigated by cyclic voltammetry in methanol solution at a platinum electrode. A good linear relationship was found between the anodic peak potential, Epa, and the Taft substituent constant. The one-electron oxidation is coupled with a subsequent chemical reaction. Triphenylphosphine has a catalytic effect.
