The bibliography on this theme, in reality in Manaus, is still scarce, very punctual works that bring historical insights to from the 1940s. Most of the researches are concentrated in the fields of Anthropology and Sociology, with History walking in this discussion. This research aims to point to the presence of groups of “blacks” acting with their religion. The survey will show some characters, their names and places of action, against the background of the persecution and criminalization present in the Jornal do Comércio news. This text is part of a reflection, still ongoing, that intends to observe Afro-Brazilian religions through a historical perspective. Its objective is to point out possibilities for study in this field.
