Abstract
This article seeks to make some contributions to the debate on corruption in Brazil from a historical perspective without disregarding the dialogue with other sciences that propose to analyze the phenomenon. The study of corruption lies in the complexity of covering different elements: historical, social, cultural, political and economic, making it necessary in this article to adopt the perspective of corruption in the administrative field, considering the external factors that interfere in state practices such as the market and personal relationships. It is believed that the analysis of these elements provides us with ingredients to combat the phenomenon in Brazil.
