Abstract

As the labor force has been increasingly aging, it is imperative for management scholars to direct attention to the implications of employee aging for organizations. Despite its importance, the research on the role of employee aging has remained relatively limited. This symposium showcases recent studies that address the need to better understand the consequences of aging at work. The presentations focus on the interactive relationship between organizational diversity policy and employee age on specific workplace outcomes for older employees, and on the intersectional dynamics of age and gender by considering the unique experiences of older women. Theoretical implications as well as best management practices that follow from the presented studies will be discussed.
