Abstract

Jean Theodorides : Five letters from d'alembert to the société royale de médecine. These five letters, dating from 1777 and 1779, concern the treatment of rabies, a problem with which the Academy was particularly concerned. One dangerous remedy was the application of blister beetles, also to be taken internally. As Frederick II had advised their use in Prussia, d'Alembert wrote to him in 1777 for information. The first four letters inform the Society of the result, while the last (1779) reflects his interest in the activities of the Society and in medecine in general.
