Abstract

First World War veteran Henry Allingham, 108, one of the handful of remaining survivors of the 1914-1918 conflict, pictured at the annual National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London last month. Prince William attended the event for the first time, along with other senior members of the Royal Family, political leaders, headed by prime minister Tony Blair, and some 9,000 veterans from 20th-century conflicts.
