Abstract

This paper makes a critical evaluation of the outcome of The VIKING EXHIBITION, London/New York/Minneapolis/Stockholm 1980–81. From a Norwegian point of view the outcome was negative. Norway was more or less eclipsed. The overall picture was dominated by Denmark. The fault for this is mainly our own. Our marketing apparatus with regard to the Viking Age has failed. It is suggested that this must be radically and intensively developed in the years to come.
