Abstract

Normative data were collected on 300 general-information questions from a wide variety of topics, including history, sports, art, geography, literature, and entertainment. Male and female undergraduates at two different universities made a one-word response to each question either in a response booklet or at a computer console. The reported data include the following for each question: (a) probability of recall for all 270 undergraduates, for males versus females, and for University of Washington subjects versus University of California, Irvine, subjects, (b) latency of correct recall, (c) latency of errors, and (d) feeling-of-knowing ratings for nonrecalled items. Correlations among these dependent variables, along with measures of reliability, are also reported.
