Abstract

NORMOD is a program to solve component transformations in petrologic and geochemical problems focusing to modal norms calculations. Most component transformations are carried out by multiple linear regression, using the least-squares method. In addition, an empirical approximation is used to calculate the “best subset” in transformations, as a CIPW norm, where the set of unknown components is independent from known components. Each specific application is presented by a subroutine involving a data file. Three applications actually are written to calculate two modal norms for peraluminous granitoids and a CIPW norm for oversaturated rocks.
