Abstract

The interlayer magnetoresistance of overdoped Tl 2Ba 2CuO 6+ δ has been measured as a function of both polar and azimuthal angle in high magnetic fields up to 45 T. By incorporating basal-plane anisotropy of the cyclotron frequency ω c and transport lifetime τ into the analysis of the data, we succeed in identifying the isotropic and anisotropic components of the transport scattering rate. Significantly, the form of scattering thus obtained is qualitatively different from all previous theoretical proposals.
